Many buildings are built with a stucco exterior. It is a popular choice because it is durable, attractive, and weather-resistant. Over time, however, stucco can become damaged due to excessive moisture, which can cause the stucco to crack or become soft and crumbly. When water damage occurs, the stucco can be repaired. A professional stucco repair company could do the job well, or you could do it yourself. First, all of the damaged stucco must be removed. If you do not remove all of the damaged stucco, this can cause future problems, and could also result in an unattractive fix. Once all of the damaged stucco has been removed, clean the area thoroughly with a wire brush to rid it of any debris. Then, dampen the base layer and apply a first, thin coat of stucco. Scratch the first coat so the finish coat will adhere to it. Allow the first coat to dry. Apply the finish coat so as to achieve the desired look, this will be using the same texturing technique as the rest of the wall to blend in.
